How to Clean and Repair Nintendo 64 Games

This video shows how to clean, repair, and restore N64 games.

These directions work for video games with stickers, writing, dirt, and other marks. The 4th step can also be used by itself to repair broken Nintendo 64 games. From my experience it works about 99% of the time with games that won't play in your N64 console.

Supplies you will need
1. Rubbing alcohol
2. Q-tip
3. Razor blade
4. Magic Eraser (can be found at most grocery stores in the cleaning aisle)
5. Glass Cleaner
6. One dirty or broken N64 game

Steps to Cleaning the Nintendo 64 Games
1. Spray the glass cleaner on to any stickers on the game and allow to soak for a minute or two. Don't be stingy with the cleaner and be sure to dry off any cleaner that goes onto the cover art.

2. Take the razor blade and place it almost horizontal to the surface of the Nintendo 64 game and start scrapping off the the sticker by starting at the corners and working your way in. The sticker should come off easily if the glass cleaner was left on long enough.

3. Dampen the Magic Eraser in water as the instructions on the Magic Eraser box show. Rub the cartridge all over to remove any remaining sticker residue, writing, or other markings on the game. DO NOT rub the artwork itself. This can remove the artwork.

4. With the rubbing alcohol dampen one end of the q-tip so it is wet but not dripping. Place the q-tip in the bottom of the N64 cartridge and push up against the metal connectors. Rub back and forth until clean. The q-tip will probably be darker in color after cleaning, that means it is working. Repeat this for both sides of the metal connector.

After following these steps you should have a clean and restored Nintendo 64 game that looks and plays like new.
